I'm up sh%t creek without a paddle!!
I didn't have the best start in life and hung around with some characters and got myself a couple of court appearances along the way and the odd fine.
On the visa application i put 'non convictions' because 1, it was such a long time ago and 2, i couldnt remember what they were for and didnt think it would matter, being so old and irrelevant. I also didnt want to put 'Yes ive been cautioned but havent got a clue what for'
I woke this morning to our police checks and saw that i have 4!!! offences, I'm absolutely mortified!!!
I've been saying to our 16 year old 'You had better have a clean record son!' and its only ME that had offences!!
I can honestly say, hand on heart, I do not remember what two of them were for ..
We emailed our agent this morning and scanned the copies over and asked if we are ok or not and shes replied saying 'This is not good'
And its because i didn't declare anything on the visa application form! The convictions themselves were'nt that bad but the fact that i didnt mention it on the application form is!!
This is my own stupid fault!! I feel so embarrassed! im so angry and upset with myself ...
We have to now write a statement to the DIAC explaining why I didnt mention this on the form.
But i seriously cannot remember the offences. So, I have had to ring the police station that dealt with this 22 and 14 years ago and ask for an application form to fill out, send off two forms of ID and £10 cheque and could be waiting up to 40 days for the results!!
If the records are incorrect and its an error from the police then ACPO will send me another copy free of charge but if not, i have to write the statement.
Please please please mention everything!!! even if you can't remember what it was you went to court/police station for, just mention it with a letter, i would hate for anyone to get as close as we are and go through what ive been through this morning, its devastating.
Saffy x
