Would I be mad to lodge a new 175 application now !!!!

Was just wondering....... Did all the vetesses stuff (Aug 2009) and passed successfully........ applied to western Australia for State sponsership (Sept 2009)......... thats where I'm upto...waiting like everyone else...... obviously I am aware of whats happened to the visa system. Now my understanding was that I should be waiting for state sponsership confirmation from western Australia ( when ever that will be), and that they would then advise as to what the next procedure for visa application should be.

Now then....... given the problems every one is now experiencing with visa applications, I was just wondering If I should perhaps make an application for a 175 visa before the end of 2009 and take my place in the que, with a view that if and when I get my S.S. I can then change my application to a 176 visa.

Its a lot of money to lodge an application for a visa, I was hoping for a bit of advise from the very educated migration experts on this site.............. AM I JUST THROWING MY MONEY AWAY................

      in antisipation of informed responses

Unless you are CSL I'd say hold off, lots of people are expecting the situation to become clearer in a few weeks so wait until then. Best bet is to have a free consultation with a good agent & see what they think, based on your personal circumstances.

      Thanks for your reply freebo...................
mmm........ have managed to get this far without an agent....... no dis-respect to any agents out there but i've got the time to sort out the applications....... was just wondering what my best options would be. If there are any agents out there willing to offer their fair advice or the educated people on this site ......please do......

      Angry same position

me and my missus are waiting on our SS and have completed the form for vetassess but not sent it off yet, still waiting for more details before we do anything more, applying for a 176 and on the skills in demand list but not csl, so guessing we're 5th in the queue.

really gutted all this has happened we been talking about going for over a year now and when we decide to do it they throw up all these road blocks.

p.s. anyone know anything about the fees for visas, cant get my head round it. you pay the first instalment when you apply and the 2nd instal if you've got dependants, or do you pay the 2nd install even if it just me and the wife. can someone help.

      thanks all

O.K. If you don't want to take even free professional advice, I can only suggest you read this thread http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migrat...migration.html As a non-sponsored, non-CSL(?) applicant you come after that. As I said before lots of people think this could change, and I really hope it does for the sake of people who have been badly hit by the latest changes but that seems to be where it is right now.

"AM I JUST THROWING MY MONEY AWAY" - depends what you mean - if you want to tie your application money up possibly for 2-3 years or more, that is your choice, and no-one can make the decision for you.

      Your reply freebo is appreciated.
I am I think with the majority... in cat 5 of the pecking order........
Was in OZ in April and spoke to a pro then, Things have changed quite a bit since then I know........ I also appreciate that a consultation with a migration agent as a one off now would be free...... but to be fair .... was hoping for unbiased opinions from all poms in oz folk rather than getting sales chat from a business person.....if you get my drift....

I have the same dilema, did speak to an agent whos advice was to get the application in the que, but then again they want the business - I had free advice. I am gonna wait for the october news see what it brings, if its not that bad then I will submit my app,,, if its really bad news......then some serious thinking needed from me!

      Hi Joe171

The 2nd instalment is applicable for 'any dependants included in application 18yrs or over with less than functional English'. If this doesn't apply, then you only pay the 1st instalment and thats it (for both you and your wife on the same application). See page 8 of this link:
