Help - Computing Professional - CSL

      Hi All,

Can someone please help me for my query?

I am Computing professional (2231-79, NEC - CSL) and applied to DIAC in Sept 09.

Till now, I was thinking that my app. will automatically consider as CSL after the lodgement. However, I came to know from various threads that all computing professionals need to intimate DIAC separately for considering their application under CSL and other hand some members said that we won't need to inform DIAC as our app. will automatically flagged under CSL.

I AM REALLY CONFUSE and don't know what to do??

      Thanks in advance,

      Poms

From what I am lead to believe you do have to inform DIAC that you are on the CSL, someone told me that their computers can recognise all occupations other than IT related jobs.

Our agent sent them an email stating that we were IT/CSL.

      Good luck.

If you have been assessed as 2231-79 Computing professional NEC that means that you are not on the MODL as it currently stands and will therefore not be on the CSL.

I thought the CSL bit was decided by the ACS. If they grant MODL status, then you are automatically on the CSL.

Have no idea if you need to tell DIAC whether your CSL or not, thats what I paid my agent for...lol

Computing Professionals (2231-79) WITH MODL and Accountants that have scored IELTS7 for each band are to inform DIAC of their eligibility for CSL through PLE.

Reason for the specific notification of the above groups is that there are Computer Professionals in (2231-79) that do NOT have an MODL specialisation and same goes for Accountants, not all of them have sat IELTS and scored 7 in each band and the system cannot distinguish between those. For all other occupations it is a clear cut case and selection is made PURELY and STRAIGHT FORWARD on ASCO code only.

      Cheers,
      Sylvia

Can you please let us know whom should be inform and if we should send an email for this to DIAC ? PS can you give me the email ID which we should write to ?

I was under the assumption all this time that 2231-79 (C++/C+/C#) is on MODL and CSL ? can you please confirm this ? I am really confused after reading this thread ....

      Thanks in advance,
      Suni

Hi Suni, and OP Jigzden (I have replied to your pm about this by the way too !!!)

Computing professionals categorised as 2231-79 must have a specialisation listed on MODL to qualify for the CSL list . C++/ C+/ C# is a listed specialisation and therefore on CSL. For those computing professionals that do not have a specialisation listed on MODL , they are classifeied as 2231-79 (NEC) meaning not elsewhere classified - so those that are not listed specifically on MODL and are therefore not on CSL.

      Hope that helps somewhat???

As for contacting DIAC to make them aware of your CSL status, either get your agent (if you have one) to email them and ask for confirmation that they are aware of your CSL status, or if you have done your app yourself you can use the PLE form on DIAC's website to notify them of your status,

      Good luck

What eurosyl says is correct (and she's very patient to always advise people on this subject) however the comment from juliemtaylor is also relevant to the OP. i.e.

"Note: If you have a skills assessment which only states the ASCO Code for 'Computer Professional nec 2231-79', you are not eligible to be awarded MODL points. A new assessment with the above information will be required if you wish to claim MODL points." - from http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...and.htm#omodlc

To the last poster, for IT and accountants to have CSL status recorded on your case you need to lodge a PLE (lots of stuff on this forum about how to do it). I know as I have had this done on my case and got an acknowledgment back from DIAC. For these two professions only this is NOT automatic and some people have reported having their processing held up as a result of not doing so.
