C/O has told me I have to take £17k to Oz

Has this happened to anyone else? where they have to take certain amount of cash out with them?, did you have to proove you have money in bank here or when you get there? Its just that I dont want to change all money just yet I'd exchange a few £k before I went but would like to wait until the £ was a bit stronger before I changed the rest, all help appreiciated.

Hi Julie

Not heard that before. Queensland are certainly asking people to show approx £17k in liquid funds before they will grant state sponsorship but I would be interested to know how they are going to check that everyone has £17k in the bank when they land in Oz

Will keep an eye on this one!!!

I think you will have to prove it before you go, they wouldnt give you a visa and if you get to Oz you havent got all that money throw you back out again surely !!

I'm applying for QLD and thats what they seem to be asking for £17k can remember if its family of 2 or 4?

Hi Lindsey,
I told them I had the money (which I have) and was granted state sponsership,so maybe they wont throw me out once I'm there,:) even if I havent exchanged £17k. I just want to wait for a better exchange rate.
