ACS CSL, also CSL going away

      Hi all,

Do you still need to inform DIAC of your ACS CSL statues? They used to say you need to tell them otherwise it won't automatically be accounted for your app.

But I sent them an email using the contact form and all I got back is a pre-formated message saying they got no idea what I'm on about.

With CSL going out of the window coming September/ October, is it still necessary/ worth the time to declare ACS CLS statues?

How do you guys view the change coming to MODEl and the retire of CSL? Will the ones already on CSL but waiting be screwed?

If you were assessed by ACS as 2231-79 it does not necessarily follow that you were assessed in one of the MODL/CSL computing specialisations. For example computing professionals do not get MODL/CSL if they do not ask; even if qualified. The relevant DIAC database is not smart enough to tell the difference. As far as I know only computing professionals have this problem. The DIAC database is smart enough to identify all other MODL/CSL cases.

You might want to try a PLE.

      Offshore,

If you have a ACS 2231-79 assessment AND are assessed as MODL, which is indicated in your result letter as:

      • The explicit mentioning of the MODL speciality behind the ASCO code, for example: 2231-79 (Java Specialist)
      • The line (example for Java Specialist): 'Based on the provided documentation it is the opinion of the ACS that the applicant has 12 months experience in JAVA. '

then you are eligible for CSL. As said by Westly, apparently their database application cannot distinguish CSL applicants from non-CSL applicants based on ASCO code (which to my opinion could have been corrected by a filter based on ASCO-code + the checkbox for MODL in the application, but anyways :))

I did sent a PLE and simply STATED that I was eligible for priority processing. I ticked the 'OTHER' box to ensure that I would receive a non-standard answer:
As requested for IT Professionals with MODL assessment, please add to my file that I am entitled to CSL priority handling on my subclass 175 visa application. My skills are assessed by the ACS as suitable under 2231-79 (.Net Technologies Specialist) + MODL.
I first got the automated response, but after about a week I received this reply:
I have noted in your file the information that you have provided that your skills are assessed by the ACS as suitable under 2231-79 (.Net Technologies Specialist) + MODL.
See my sig for the actual visa timeline.

      Cheers,
      Sylvia
