Guest jamesey525
Hi all New to this, so please bear with me! Having made endless enquiries to the Visa bureau, and the ACS (Australian Computer Society), I am still no further forward, so hoped this forum may help to shed some light, or at least point me in the right direction... Having visited friends in Gold Coast back in May, I am hooked!! - and would love to try life out there. I am an IT Manager in Kettering, UK and looking to migrate on a skill Migrations visa using my IT profession to get in. Whilst I am happy to upskill to a certain extent to meet the skill requirements, I do not wish to study for another year if I do not have to (Im sure we would all agree on that one).... problem is, the ACS are not clear enough on their requirements in my following example. One of the listed skills is an MCITP, but it doesnt specify at what level. I am soon to be qualified with the following: MCITP - (Enterprise Support Technician level) MCTS MCP x 2 MCDST A+ I will also have 2 years exp as IT Manager, and 2 prior to that as Technician, and also soon to have membership with BCS (British Computer Society). On the ACS skills list, the MCITP is listed, but for those of you who have IT background, you will know that MCITP comes in various levels (like the MCP did), and ACS will not clarify if the MCITP - Enterprise support Technician is at a high enough level to meet the requirements no matter how I word it (and even the Visa Bureau has tried on my behalf - they just quote the list I had seen on their website anyway) - quite frustrating. I simply want to know if my quals will meet their requirements (I know I need another year or two to meet the experience criteria). As mentioned - happy to study to upskill, but not if un-necessary. Any help or guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated. James - Ash, if your reading this - thanks for recommending - great tips on here! Guest threespire
Most IT bods (us included !) use Peter Chiam at www.ptlabs.com.au. He is a migration agent who specialises in IT cases and getting people through the ACS assesment. I'd give him an email - he usually offers initial advice for free. Hope that helps Kirsty x
Guest The "legdes"
Yes - Peter Chiam , he's very well thought of and comes highly recommended for IT . I wish I'd known about him ..many other agents simply don't have the specific knowledge and are reluctant to take on IT RPL etc. That led me to think an IT manager with 19 years IT experience wouldn't get in...now I know they do. If I'd approached Peter it would have saved my poor hubby from having to go back into engineering for a year, him from having 2 jobs and loads of stress and time ! Definately drop him an email- he'll reply within a day or two.
Guest jamesey525
Thanks for the responses - already more positive than approaching the visa bureau or ACS directly. Thanks all:)
