passport number

i have to do a police check for oz and uk. problem is i'm going to be getting a new passport soon which means i will have a new passport number. So what should i do when filling out these forms as they will need my old passport numbers to check up on me right? also don't the passport numwers i give for police checks have to be the same as passport i use for my application.

ooh just when i get one worry or quirey out the way another one comes along hahaha.

basically i have one year left on uk passport hoping to move to oz in july august on prospective visa and am getting married in december as it stand i already have to hand that in to be changed also my name. so i thought it would be easier if i renewed my passport now.

i was also confused beacuse the new national police chek for oz only asks for 2 addresses your current and your previous, should i put down on attached paper previous addresses for last 10 years including all hostels etc i stayed in whilst backpacking in oz for 2 years?

I was in the same position and it worked out fine, do the following

Fill out your forms with your old passport number and make the application

Then apply for new passports

Then you can fill out an amendment form with your new passport numbers.

Make sure you get the amendment in before you get a CO as teh final VISA is tied to the Passport number

thanks phoenix, could i not use my old passport number for my police check then my new number for the aplpication.

get a new passport, then for the police checks attach additional information saying that i've just got a new passport but here are the details of my old passport surley that would be ok?

Police checks are right at teh end of the application process, by the time we got to police checks we already had our new passports and used those passport numbers

Any checks the police do with passports will probably reference a database that links your old and new passport numbers anyway, so dont worry about your old passports after you get the new ones issued.

Of course you can always keep it simple by getting new passports first :) The reason we didn't do this was because we needed the old passports to go abroad just after we sent the application, then got the new passports when we got back to the UK

oh ok haha, yeah also i'm apllying for a prospective marriage visa, and i hear they get done quite quickly so may not be long til i have to apply for oz and uk police checks.
