How recent for evidence of shared address - spouse visa

My partner and I have been compiling evidence to show we have been living together as de-facto partners at the same residential address for over 12 months. I understand the requirement is that we have to prove we were living together prior to lodging the application.

We had planned to lodge in early Feb 09 and we have correspondences sent to either or both of us at our residential address as early as Oct 07 and as recent as Dec 08/Jan 09 to show it's been over 12 months. Bank statements showing him contributing to the apartment rental are also as recent as Dec 08.

However, when we rang the Immigration to make an appointment, the earliest date we could get an interview is 31 Mar 09. Does that mean we have to now discard the Dec 08/Jan 09 letters/bank statements we were going to use? Do we have to show letters/docs in Feb or even March 09 in order to demonstrate we were living at the same address right up to the same month as the date of lodgement ie. 31 March?

Trouble is many of our bills/statements are in 3-month cycles so they may not come very quickly!

Appreciate any advice.

Hi Guys,

I would just show them everything and take it as early back as you can i.e. bills, letters etc etc.

When me and the missus moved here we had real problems actually proving we were in a defacto relationship. We had to show bills (i.e. mobile bills) but also had to get affit davits signed by frineds andfamily when they asked for further evidence. Basically have as much "proof" as you can and you'll be fine.

I had a question if i may? Why are you making an appointment and not just sending everything in? Are you applying onshore or offshore? I'm applying shortly, and thought i could only send everything... not go in myself (applying in England...)

We are applying onshore in Australia. Over here you can make an appointment to be interviewed by the officer.

hi its a worring time, just take all the infor from as far back as you can with photos ect. i had to prove the same thing and i love shredding everything!! they looked at bank statements, morgage statments even gas/elec/rates. anything with your name and address. they dont even need to be in joint names just the same address. good luck tess xx
