Just like to say that we went for our meds today at Huddersfield Lindley practice.
The drs were very friendly and made the whole thing feel at ease, here is what they did.
Firstly went through medical form and asked questions on general health.
Next took blood pressure reading (they did this several times throughout examination to get an average reading).
Then height and weight.
Then did urine sample test.
Next i had to take shirt off, checked lymph glands in neck, chest area and under armpits.
Then prodded stomach area to check for swollen liver, spleen and any hernias.
Checked heart and lungs with stethoscope on chest, back and sides.
Next shirt back on and trousers, socks off to check pulse in groin area and on ankles.
Also bent and pulled my legs to check flexability in kness, hips etc.
Asked me to touch my nose with both hands with eyes closed, and rub both heel on opposite shin with eyes closed.
Then took blood sample for HIV test.
Next trousers and socks back on for eye test with each eye. Looked in ears and eyes, checked back of throat and looked in mouth, teeth gums etc.
That was about it i think, wife had same checks but also had breast examination too.
Both kids aged 5&7 just had height, weight, urine test, eyes, ears and stomachs felt.
The whole process took about 2-3 hours but included waiting 30mins for xrays at royal infirmary hospital next door.
Costs were
Meds for 2 adults & 2 children £368
Blood tests £60
Xrays £112
I must say that Huddersfield deserves its good reputation on this site and would recommend anyone thinking of having meds here to go for it.
