General Manager Assessment

Hi

My name is Lynne and my OH has just sent in Skills Assessment off for the General Manager occupation. I wondered if anyone else is doing the same thing as I carn't find many people doing the assessment. We hope to have a reply before xmas, it says it only takes 4 weeks. Will be a nice xmas present it he gets it as they say that AIM are very tough.

Thanks

Lynne

Hi Lynne

My Husband is just getting ready to send his skills assessment for Engineering Manager with AIM.
We have also heard they are very tough.
My Husband has Engineering qualifications up to BTEC HND, and is just completing an MBA. The AIM requires 5 years senior management experience in your chosen profession, and insists that you have managed several managers, who in turn manage other managers. He just about meets this criteria (depending on how you declare it!), but it will be close.

What is your husbands experience / profession etc?
Where in Australia are you heading?
When are you hoping to go?

We are hoping Brisbane area but have a house to sell in Wiltshire.

Hi Lisa

My Husband is a Director of a Building Company and a Finance Company and various other companies, he has his ACIB which is a Banking Degree but does not work in Banking anymore has worked for then same Company for about 10 years.

We are hoping to move to Adelaide later next year.
We have discussed moving with my little boy (Kyle aged 6) and he is upset about possibly leaving his friends.

I have just posted the assessment, will let you know how he gets on.

Good luck with yours, let me know how you get on.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Lynne

Hi Lynne,

We had also heard how tough the AIM assessors are, various agents said my OH would not pass for General Manager. After looking closely at the criteria, we eventually submitted the paperwork ourselves under the 'Supply and Distribution Manager' category. Within 3 weeks we received an e-mail to say he'd passed the assessment. No questions, no requests for further documentation etc. It's interesting to come across threads about the AIM as there appear to be very few people who have had any experience with them. Good luck with yours, let me know how it goes!
