Hi Guys,

I've been checking beupdate regularly now gor ages so thought it would be good to share my analysis. Here's my update based on the month to 27/10/08:

Jan 100% of visas issued
Feb 67% either issued or have a co (up 17% from last month)
Mar 60% (same as last month)
Apr 33% (up 20% from last month)
May 46% (up 38% from last month)
June 20% (up 13% from last month)
July 0%

What do you think ? Any use / interest to you ? Would you like to see this each month ?

Will do the number of 176's for Aug, Sept and Oct is much lowere so far. So hey things might really march on shortly ! - We'll see....

Really interesting to see the progress made. It's a timley reminder for everybody to update their progress as well, to keep the figures accurate.
We are in the 54% that have not been issued a visa from May

Just a bit more of my analysis for 2008 apps:

Jan - first visa issued on 4/8 from lodgement of 23/1. No Agent, FL = 6.5 months
Feb - first visa issued on 15/8 from lodgement of 18/2. Agent, FL = 6 months
Mar - first visa issued on 25/8 from lodgement of 2/3. No Agent, FL = 5.75 months
Apr - first visa issued on 19/8 from lodgement of 14/4. No Agent, FL = 4 months
May - first visa issued on 12/9 from lodgement of 15/5. No Agent, FL = 4 months
June- first visa issued on 22/10 from lodgement of 6/6. Agent, FL = 4.5 months

I've noticed that all of the visas first issued for each month have not used an agent but have front loaded (bar the Feb one above) and this includes the 175's too !?

I'm informed that some system testing was going on which resulted in a sample of cases being processed early/out of turn so these turnarounds may not really mean anything for us going forward. The testing is supposed to be complete now so it'll be interesting to see what the analysis shows in the coming months.

Hi Guys,

Here's my analysis of what Beupdate tells us went on during Nov - the good news is 2 more 176's have already been granted in December !

Do let me know if you have any thoughts.....

During Nov the number of 176 cases with a visa or case officer has rose by 10. This means 10 new lucky people are at least being looked at. However, 14 new people were actually granted their visas.
If 10 is the number to be processed each month then working in date order (ha ha .. as if!) the table below would predict progress based on the numbers of applications registered in Beupdate:

Jan 100% of visas issued
Feb 81% either issued or have a co (up 17% during Oct, up further 14% during Nov)
Mar 68% (same as last month and the month before !)
Apr 50% (up 20% during Oct and up a further 17% during Nov)
May 50% (up 38% in Oct, up a further 4% during Nov)
June 11% (showing a minus % increase but this is due to more people registering in Beupdate, was up 13% in Oct)
July 0%
Aug 11%
Sept/Oct/Nov 0%

March did have a very large number of apps at 25 – the average is 13. But what the lack of progress for March tells us about DIAC processing I’m not sure. Will keep an eye on this. Perhaps it tells us something about DIAC % targets ??


The only update to the earliest visa grants is the August one. They now look like this:

WOW ! Just stumbled upon your post. I'm a Aug 08 176 visa cat with no agent, basically switch off thinking this is going to take atleast 12 months , not so sure now ?
