Well that's the medicals done!!

Hey all!

We went for our medicals today so just thought I'd let you know what went on, just in case anyone else is as terrified as we were before we went!!

We went to a panel doctor in Salford, Manchester and it cost us £770 for the family in total. I was VERY relieved that we didn't have to strip off for the medicals or x-rays and all he did was weigh and measure us, do a quick eye test, look in our eyes and ears, test our reflexes, palpate our abdomens, listen to our chests, take our pulse and blood pressure, dipstick our urine and take blood. My 16 year old daughter was horrified that she had to have a HIV test though!!

Honestly, it really was nothing to worry about so anyone who's waiting for theirs, please chill!!

Lots of luck everyone . . . it's great to see so many posts today from people saying they've had their visas granted!

Lizzie

P.s. Just want to say how proud I am of my OH who lost 3 stone in preparation for the medical . . . . we've just had a KFC to celebrate haha!!!

Hi,

We had our meds on monday on John st in manchester and we did have to strip. I was so not prepared, unshaven legs and not matching undies. My 10 yr old thought this was hilarious so at least it made her day!

Our Meds

We had our meds done in the Four Elms in Cardiff on 24th Sept, awaiting DIAC results. We had to strip down to undies, and were not prepared for this - totally mortified!!!

It was a complete MOT - including breast check.

Glad it is over and no problems arose. Cost us £551 for 2 adults and 13yr old, and £250 for the Xrays. Needed HIV and Hep C for the 2 of us due to nursing.

Took a whole morning for the 3 of us.

Breast check incidentally was optional with my doc. I had it done anyway so that I didn't have to worry about whether they'd ask for it but you do have the right to refuse it and still have the meds done (in case anyone is worried). It would then be up to the meds people if they wanted to push for you getting it done which would be based on risk category.

I had to partially uncover various bits at different times !! so obviously strip for the breast exam, and shirt off for them to listen to my breathing etc. Also had to uncover my lower abdomen to check for any hernias. So it was on the couch, sit on the chair, on the couch again, sit on the chair again. I was up and down like a yoyo. ! Nothing to worry about though and I felt as though I had been thoroughly checked over when I got to the end ! At least I felt like I'd got my moneys worth !!! lol.

We had our meds done in Huddersfield and we had to strip down to our pants, which as a bloke is always a gamble when you have to give your urine sample on the premises.
