      married for visa

      Hi

We are in process of sorting docs for visa.
We got married in June this year but have been together for 10years and have two kids. Do I have to provide more evidence on our relationship than just a marriage certificate?

Seems like a silly question, but would like some re assurance.

      Thanks in advance

If you are going down the spouse visa route then yes you will have to produce alot more evidence than just a marriage certificate, you have to prove that it is not a marriage of convience - stat decs, things that prove you have lived together shared bills etc & are comitted to each other along with medical & police checks

I think you have to provide evidence like photos of they two of you together, any letters or emails you may have sent each other. You also need satuatory declarations from two people (I think) stating that you are together not just to get the visa.We are also in the process of applying for a spouse visa.

I dont see why you should on that visa we didnt have to prove anything and I dont think there is a minimum that you can hold a wedding certificate for.

Have you an agent they should be able to confirm things for you

      good luck

I'm sure you only need the marriage cert.
      175 App submitted 11/4/08. C/O 8/9/08. PCC's passed 2/10. meds 26/9, 3 of 4 finalised 6/11.

Yes you must provide other information to prove it is an ongoing relationship. We have been married for 4 years and sent other info inline with this section of the immi web site (http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...ndary-app.htm) which states:

"In all instances, you must include evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing and you have a commitment to a shared life together. This may include:"

Evidence of the history of your relationship
Both you and your spouse should provide a statement including all of the following:
      • how, when and where you first met
      • how your relationship developed
      • your domestic arrangements, that is, how you support each other financially, physically and emotionally and when this level of commitment began
      • any periods of separation, when and why the separation occurred, for how long and how you maintained your relationship during the period of separation
      • your future plans.
Note: Your statement does not need to be made on a statutory declaration form. Your statement or statutory declaration must, however, be signed by the author.
Evidence of a genuine and continuing relationship
There are four broad categories of evidence that you need to provide.
      • financial aspects:
        • your living arrangements such as joint ownership of your house or joint names on a lease, correspondence addressed to both of you at the same address, joint responsibility for children
      • social context:
        • evidence that you and your partner are generally accepted as a couple socially, such as joint invitations, evidence of common friends, assessments by your friends and family of your relationship, joint travel or joint participation in sporting, social or cultural activities
      • your commitment:
        • knowledge of each other, intention that your relationship will be long term, through things such as the terms of your wills, and correspondence and phone accounts to show that contact was maintained during any periods of separation.

Can I ask what kind of visa you are going for? We are doing skilled independent 175.

      Thanks
