Spouse visa, temp or perm?

Hi there,
I am applying for a spouse visa and in theory I should get perm residence straight away as we have been married 6 years and have 2 nippers. Does anyone know if this is the case all the time or do they sometimes give temp residence initially.
The reason I ask is that we plan to go to Aus initially and then maybe go to NZ to check it out. I think I can live and work in NZ on a permanent Aus visa but not sure what my situation will be on a temp residency, and if I go on a temp basis will Australia let me back in!!!!!
Any help would be great, I thank you all.
Rache

Hi Rache
Im sure in your case you would go straight onto a PR via a spouse visa becuase you have been married 6 years & have 2 children together.

Saying that thou who knows what immi decide to do, i was told i would go onto pr straight away becuase i have one of my daughters here with me in oz being my hubbys step child, on the website it says dependents stated as
step, adopted, natural & something else, my agent was suprized when immi only granted me a temp spouse visa therefore having to wait the 2 further years to apply for pr. So who knows what immi are going to do, but i woudnt of thought they would question you due to your kids & time of marriage
good luck

my friend moved over to Adelaide in Jan this year, him and his missus have been married for 5 years (together for 8) and have a little boy who has just turned 1, they got PR straight away and applied in dec last year.

I would hazard a guess that you will get PR, I think in the 'rules' it says that if you've been together longer than 5 years (defacto not dating) and also have kids then you get PR.

Mind you I have just drunk a few beers so my memeory might be a bit off......!!
