In response to a couple of enquiries about what certifications are acceptable for Group B skills assessment by ACS, this is their latest statement:
"In regards to your enquiry, the ACS currently recognises the following vendor qualifications as meeting Group B.
(Applicants with vendor qualifications MCSE, MCSD, CLP and CNE gained from 1997, and CDE , Master CNE , CNI , CCE , and OCM gained from 2004, and MCPD and MCITP gained from 2007, CISA and CISM gained from June 2007)."
Eagle eyed people will note that some of these, such as CLP (Lotus), aren't obtainable and may not be verifiable today. The CDE is a short lived Novell certification, discontinued in March 2004, and the CCE is a Citect product. All the others should be self-explanatory.
Thanks for the info. I have had the MCSE for nearly a year and just passed the MCITP , but I don't have the minimum 6 years of experience (I've only been in high level IT for 3 1/2 yrs). I'm 26 so 6 years experience seems a lot when I only finished University when I was 21 but I didn't do a major in IT so I can't use that.
Does anyone have any suggestions (other than waiting 2 1/2 yrs) or getting an Australian work sponsor that I could use to still apply using the work visa path?
The options are using another skills assessment process, eg if you've got a Vetassess or Engineers Australia eligible qualification or finding an employer to sponsor you. At your age the working holiday procedure is a useful one for getting here and then finding the employer.
