family sponsership questions

Hi i have a brother who is looking to evetually get permenant residency if this is this the case is he then able to sponser me to come out? what exactly does sponsership invlove him doing?

Also i was wondering i have a niece who is a Aussie but a very young one! i was wondering can this help me get out at all. as i have seen niece/nephews listed on the family sponsership thing but of course shes far to young to do anything but i was wondering if you have family such as her who is so young can her parents advocate on her behalf. A bit of a long shot i know but im just trying to look at all my options.
I really dont know what sponsership involves for the person sponsering you.

I do have a second cousin somewhere in Oz to but i dont know her sadly!

thank you

Hi, I hope someone on here can help you but I myself am not totally sure as some things changed last year.

The sponsor has to look after you, they will be responsible for any medical that you may have to receive they also I believe have to pay your flight back if things do not work out. Dont forget with a sponsor you do not get PR, therefore you will have to achieve this when you are in Australia this may not be that easy.

I would call an agent and see what they suggest your options are.

Good luck

No problem, yes the £10.00 pom would be a good option for us all lol

Would you like me to send you my agents phone number?

Hi, my family is going out to Perth on a sub class 176 skilled independant family sponsored visa. As far as I have been told from my agent, the family sponsored visa is a permanant visa. The general requirement from the sponsor is that they have to provide support for you when you get there and for the first two years. If you are taking enough money for you to live on then there is going to be very little for them to do.

Hope this helps

Hi Kdal,
We are on the 176 family sponsored Visa and it DOES allow you to have perm residency......I've just been onto the immi web site and copied this info. You had me worried for a min there....Phew!!

What does this visa let me do?

This visa allows you and any secondary applicants included in your visa application to live as permanent residents in Australia.
Australian permanent residents can:
  • live and work in Australia on a permanent basis
  • study in Australia at school or university
  • receive subsidised healthcare through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
  • access certain social security payments (subject to waiting periods)
  • be eligible for Australian citizenship (subject to the residency eligibility criteria)
  • sponsor people for permanent residence.

Hello, have a look on the immigration website, I've included a link chuck!
Also...your Brother would need to be a 'Citizen' not just perm res. I think it takes 2yrs (correct me if wrong...I can recall 2 or 4 years for citizenship!)
Ok...so the Niece...I take it she's under 18? So that's a no-go then! What about any Aunts or Uncles?
In my opinion the best thing to do is contact an agent for a free chat, they will tell you your options and you might be surprised. You can also get sponsored by 'other' means. Have a look at the link, call an agent....what have you got to loose?
Good luck..........Lisa,xx
