Help, loads of questions!!!!

hi, Just found this site by pure luck and loving it. Me and my partner [im 28 and my partner is 32]and 3 girls [12yrs, 6yrs and 2yrs]are looking into moving to Australia we've only just started the ball rolling but we got so many questions that we dont know where to start and was hopeing somebody might be in the same situation and could give us some advice. I'll start off with the main questions that are getting to me and my partner and hopefully i'll find the answers to the rest on another thread.
Basically two of my girls are from an ex-partner who's a complete waste of space he dont see them or provide for them but he likes to cause trouble, we havnt informed him of our plans to move but bit scared incase he will have to get involved through the whole application process or does anyone know if we dont have to mention him at all?
And also i've recently been through a terrible illness of blood clots on both my lungs and even though im on the road to recovery and hopefully on meds for just a few more months im also worried incase this goes against us. Any advice would be fantastic.

Hi & Welcome to PIO it's great site you will love it.

I think you will find that your ex will have to sign some sort of declaration to let your children go to Australia with you.

If I were you I would phone an agent as they do give you some free advice and this will help you get on the road. Do you know what type of visa you would like or can apply for?

I can give you my agents details if you like, let me know

Good Luck Kim

Hi kim,
Thanks for replying, i thought that would be the case with my ex unfortunatly. I got a feeling this is going to be a harder processs than i thought as i can almost guarantee a no from him just to pee me off.
We have just been browsing really at the visas and my partners thinking of the professional visa he's an LGV technician.
We've had the first telephone call from an agent and waiting on another one on tuesday to see basically where we stand and if we got a hope in hells chance of going lol.

No problem, if your husband is on the Skills in Demand List you can go for the 175 visa, which would probably be the best one to go on.

Good luck with the agents calls and good luck with you ex, dont worry to much as they have been many people on here in the same boat with ex's and I am sure they will give you their experience and the outcome, or even a way round it.

Perhaps try putting a thread on here titled taking children but what abt the ex?? something along those lines, then the people who have been in this situation will give you their experience as they may not read it under your current thread.

Good Luck Kim

Hello Angie

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Is your ex named on the children's birth certificates? If he is not then I think he would have some difficulty in trying to obstruct you. If he is, then I believe that you will need either his consent or a Court Order. The Court is usually pretty sympathetic towards Mums in your situation, but if your ex won't come to heel quietly, the Court process can be both expensive and slow. I'd suggest consulting a Family Law solicitor in your area.

I also agree with kdal. There have been loads of threads on this very point. Do a search on here and also start a thread in General Dilemmas, I would suggest.

With regard to Hubby, what is an LGV technician, please? Can you find the job on thie list below (on which it may not be called LCV technician.)

A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information

The ASRI list is not exhaustive, but we might as well keep this simple to start with, I suggest.

Best wishes

Gill

Hi gill, thanks so much for your advice, unfortunatly he is named on the kids birth certificate so think i got a battle on my hands but im hopeing if everything goes well that it will all be worth it in the long run.
LGV technician- he bascially works on articulated trailers involving servicing, MOTS and that. I will check that list out in abit. We couldnt find it on the first assessment so we was advised to just put mechanic.

Ang
