We have spoken to them recently, my husband has no formal qualifications and they said only visa avail is sponsored visa. I am not so sure its the only way. 8 months is a very long time, I would definately want some more information from them, after all they are there to help you.

Hi AnxiousMum

Same situation. . .no formal qualifications and told the only way is sponsored visa (in IT), although they were "very enthusiastic" and "confident" about this . . . prior to payment of course!!

Wasn't sure how much fuss to make about the timescale as I wasn't sure how long other's were taking.

Hi,

How have you got on with contacting employers then? What kind of response have you had so far. I assume as you have been waiting for over 8 months that you are having not much luck?

Hi

Seems to be a similar response most of the time 'when are you going to be in Oz?'; I think I read that on another thread earlier today as well.

I started by targeting companies specific to my job with the replies ranging from 'When are you...' to mostly no reply at all. I then started registering with the online job sites Seek, mycareer etc. as they have you believe you'll get a job in no time at all.....haven't had one response from any of them. Next the recruitment agencies which, in the main, replied back but with the same old story 'When...' or just quote that they aren't able to sponsor since the rules were changed even though I wasn't asking them to.

I have now been sending emails to all the large companies and am just working my way through the companies on whoshiring.com.au. I've had a couple of replies which I've also heard tens of times before 'We'll put you on file in case something comes up'. I've so far collected 300+ replies and counting.

I think this is the stage you start to wonder if it will ever happen.

There seem to be hundreds of vacancies but no-ones willing to sponsor, or so it seems; the only other thing is to visit Oz , which would be fine if it was guaranteed.
