Double Baggage & Singapore Airlines

Hi Guys

I'm under the impression I can get double baggage allowance with Singapore Airlines coz of my PR visa. However, Singapore have sent me an email asking me to fax a copy of my visa to them in order to 'update my reservation'

Is this normal procedure?

Just wondered if other PIOs had had to fax their visa to Singapore Air?

Thanks

HH x

hi there

yes this is standard practice with most air lines as they need proof you have not used your visa e.g for a rekki and that it is a pr visa once you have sent it they can then amend your allowance.

I just called Singapore Airlines today to query ours as we are flying out on 1st Sept. The guy didn't really understand me to start with but then said yes we do get double the allowance but need to show our proof at check in - I said "well we'll need to show you it anyway to be allowed to board the plane won't we!!!!" Am now hoping this will be enough as he didn't ask me to fax it across. Do you think I should call them again?!!

Hi everyone

Also spoke to Singapore airlines yesterday. We fly the 23rd July. They told us as long as we had PR visa and it was the first time we were entering Aus on this visa, we were entitled to double baggage. 40 kilos EACH, including the kids. Told us all we needed to do was to show visa at time of check in. Also told us to check in online 48hrs before flight, even given your seat number!!

Hi
I fly out of manchester with singapore on the 8th sept. Got a 136 but phoned to check on baggage allowance today. I was told that as long as it says that you have permission for indefinate stay and it hasn't already been stamped then it applies to everyone, and you only need to show it at check in.

hi all

it is only if you have a pr visa that you are allowed extra bagage and you have a one

way ticket,i have rang every airline up.

i would advise that you get an email from them once you have sent them a fax as was

told this will save time and aguments when checking in as you will have proof from the

airline and they wont be able to get out of it.
