Wondering if yous can help me with this, Both myself and hubby want to go to Australia, I want to go on a working holiday visa, while he wants to go on a Skilled Migrant one, reason I want to go on WHV is that Im not sure whether I'll want to settle there and dont want to fork out over 4.5k if I want to come home after 3 months. My question is how easy is it to apply for a skilled visa while in Australia??? Hubby is 29 next month and hopefully will have a job (sparks) till he goes so would only be out of work about 3-4 months (want to do some travelling first) before he applies for the skilled visa.
I'm not sure about the switch from WHV to a skilled visa, for one thing coz they can take a good while to actually get (skilled visas that is and there is more than one stage to qualify), and because you can ONLY do certain jobs on WHV, to work as a sparky he has to prove his qualifications on a skills assesment and then some sparkys even once approved have had to do further certificates once in Oz to be able to work. Do you have a trade, that may be easier to find work for?
Your first step should really be to speak to a Migration Agent, the first call is free as far as I know they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Good Luck with your decisions.

I'm almost ready sending my TRA application form to Canberra. Could anybody be kind enough for giving me advice on the payment. I have been told I can pay it by cheque in Barclay's bank, for oversea's. After doing so, would I be quoted a reference or something with proof for payment before sending my application off. Also is a photocopy of the inside of my passport accepted providing it has been certyfied.

Thanks very much for your reply, I dont have a "skill" as such im an Office Manger so dont think we'l get in on just me ha ha, On your advice I phoned Mirgrationabroad.com who told me that yes hubby would be able to apply within a couple of months of getting there, it does take a little longer over there to do so but cause we have a return ticket why not come home and try and settle things/visit here. DH is planning on the assesment and what ever else he needs too and he does want to work as a sparks while there!!!
Hopefully it will all go to plan but for the moment Im just too nervous to commit myself there when I know nobody!!!

Mrs Summer what visa is your husband going out then? Is he also going out on the Working Holiday (WHM) to begin with?
You/he can work for up to 6 months for the same employer while on a WHM visa. So the idea would be to find a great employer, begin working for him/her and then ask him/her to sponsor your husband on the 457 employer sponsored visa (available for up to 4 years).
Once on the 457 visa your husband could make the application for one of the permanent visas.
Your husband could also apply for the permanent visa straight off, but since they take up to 12 months to process, you may run out of time on the WHM visa before the permanent visa is granted.
You should also bear in mind that once the permanent visa is ready to be granted, you and your husband will need to offshore. Most people fly to NZ for a few days.
