Visa Time Scales

HI all. I have passed the TRA assessment, but will not meet the requirements to apply for visa until Oct this year ( recent work experience). Does anyone have an estimate as to how long I should expext to wait for an independent skilled migration visa? Or is this a how long is a piece of string type of question? Does anyone recommend starting meds police checks etc or is it to early??

Hi Guys, From the date of applying for your Visa (on-line)currently they are taking approx an average of 7 months. Although I have heard that after the backlog is cleared which will be by the 1st July hopefully then visas will start to be issued quicker.

But yes your right and how long is a piece of string !!

Hi

It's not worth doing your meds just yet as you have 12 months from the date of the meds to enter Australia or you have to re-do them as they expire after 12 months.

Hi, We applied on-line on the 16th November 2007. Our medicals and police checks are all done and finalised all documents in and met also, and we have now been sent to the 'Decision Maker', so waiting for news now.

Sorry did not answer your other question but as Karen (cant wait) says , no point in getting all that done yet, wait for your visa application to go in. Our meds were done on the 1st December so we have until the 1st December 2008 to leave here or at least validate our visas !

If we get the visa the only thing that will be stopping us going immediately is the fact that we have not sold our house yet, this has been on the market for 2 months now.

Thanks Kim. Seems like so many people on here are waiting for a house sale!! We have only been on market for a week but it feels quite edgy. This time last year selling your house would have been a formality LOL!!!
