Hi, I'm new to forum, we received our visa Subclass 137 Skilled STNI in May 2006, activated it in Nov 2007 and now hubbie is on his way in three weeks, South Australia was the state nominating, however we heard somewhere can't remember where, that we now do not have to stay in SA for two years. Can someone plese help on this one, we really want to go to QLD, where there is so much work for him there, but do not want to risk our visas and life in Oz if its illegal, do we have to go to SA and register somewhere or can we now go to Brizzy.
Thanks for any info on this, have looked onweb, but just getting more confused.
I will follow in October, got to sort house and family out first, but we are so excited even though at the moment, hubbys work has dried up and we cant sell house, so the move is now forced, oh well, not a bad problem eh!!!
Hi and welcome to PIO, can't really answer your question, i was under the impression that you had to stay for 2 years in the nominated state, we have a state sponsorship for Victoria but maybe your visa is different than ours. Good luck anyway Tania X

Hi Chrissy,
I have read somewhere on here that you have a 'moral' obligation to stay in your nominated state but not a legal one. You should inform your nominated state that you intend to live elsewhere but i dont think there is much they can do to stop you.

I read all that too, I spoke with visa specialists and they said, moral obligation, but wouldnt elaborate too much, how do SA authorities keep tabs on us anyway, i dont want to do anythng wrong, but really need to work in brizzy, so much construction work there for hubby, and we are desperate for him to start, we cant sell house, and his work has dried up here, so hes going in three weeks, i will follow him as soon as house is rented.
Chrissy, Im sure you'll be fine going to Brissie.
We are hoping to go to WA as im in construction too. There is loads of work in WA.
We havent been able to sell our house yet either. Its been up for sale since Feb and only had 2 viewings! We dont really want to rent it out because we have 2 other properties that are also rented. It would be far too much of a tie...........
