It's two years from your arrival in to the Country.
RobN
The full information is: If people became permanent residents before 1 July 2007 and apply before 30 June 2010, they must have been physically present in Australia as a permanent resident for a total of two years in the five years before applying, including one year in the two years before applying. So, if you do travel outside of Australia under the old rules (which apply to you - as above), it pushes back the date which you can apply on. You will also need to take a citizenship test. You can find this on the Citizenship website here.
Guest mandy1
Hi all Am I correct in thinking that if you got here after that date you now have to wait 4 years? Mandy x
