I know this is up about 13 days early but does anyone have a clue what might be happening on the 1st July with regards to pathway D? I am a chef who unfortunatly has no paper qualifications. Since being told that pathway d may or may not be reintroduced I have been forced to start to prove that I can do what I do every day! Currently undertaking NVQ 2 & 3 but still not even sure if this will be enough, and then I may have to have work experiance after I have quallified!!!!! It is quite funny having to explain how to make a sandwich or show someone how I wash salad leaves but how I wish I was doing it in oz! Planning to move with the family (wife Jo, baby daughter lolly 9months) hopefully to the Melbourne area maybe Frankston!
Anyway........ if anyone has a bit of inside information or moral support, or even wants to lend me their certificates for a week or two feel free to reply!!!
Hi sjs,
looked at the sponsor route but not sure if I really want to be tied to a specific employer. Dont get me wrong i want to work but would just like to have the choice to disagree with the boss!!!!!

Dont you just love us Chefs!
yes - my husband is a chef!!!! we were lucky enough to pass on pathway D last aug. i think most chefs learn on the job as i would have thought was the case with a lot of trades - hope this route opens up again for you if not looks like you might need to be sponsored and keep your gob shut

We're the same - patiently waiting for something to happen on 1st July (hubby a tiler). He has recently passed his NVQ but this is no good for TRA as it was assessment based and not following an apprenticeship or years at college. I thought there'd be more of a buzz around by now with people eagerly anticipating an annoucement soon or some rumour and speculation but there's been nothing. We're starting to feel that no news is coming anytime soon. If no news by 1st July he will go for an AQF with trade train or ************* and try and go via pathway E. I believe one if not both of these offer the same for chefs so that could be an option for you to go on a skilled visa. I know its expensive but would be worth it if the pathways don't change from their present form.
Please contact me by PM or email if you would like the name of a workplace assessor who attends the UK assessing Cooks and Chefs with a view to issuing an AQF Certificate III.
With an AQF Cert III and 4 years of demonstrable and relevant work experience you can then reasonably contemplate an application to TRA under Skill Pathway E.
Best regards.
