please help me with the TRA (City and Guilds)

Hi all
I am a chef trying to immigrate to Oz, but seem to keep hitting brick walls with the TRA., this will now be my 4th time of applying. I have my city and guild 706/1 and 706/2 but they are now asking me for evidence of either an apprenticeship or traineeship. If i am not mistaken we dont do this in the Uk when you have done 706/2 then you are qualified and off you go into the big wide world. Is there anyone else out there that has had these problems and if you have got through it how did you do it?
Cheers everybody
Ali Jeffs

Hi Ali

I completed a TRA application for my husband as he is a chef and he passed, the key thing is to state that the first job you had was as a trainee, your referenec if you have one should state that you were trained in this and that etc. You have to have a certain number of hours training on the job to compliment your qualification, it is all about how you word the cv and you must use the words training position and such like.

If you require anymore help drop me a PM.

Tracey & Darren

Hi there i know i failed first time round, i am an hairdresser and i sent all my certificates e.g city and guilds and NVQ level 3 in the end i got more witness testimonies from clients, obtained more accounts, i know TRA were dead interested in my earlier years of hairdressing but we were talking 20 years ago, in the end i finally passed it. Good luck

Hi, not had the problems, but had to prove that I had on the job training as pasrt of my hairdressing along with my city and guilds, I needed 900 hours of training (i think) so classed my first two years as that, also I was on a YTS and they accepted this as my apprenticeship,

Cant you ask your first employer to say they were giving you on job training from when you first started, or did you do work experience for anyone?
