      Recognition of prior learning

Hi all, So I am on this forum for my own reasons but also helping friends kick start their visa to come to aus as well, He is a welder, no formal qualifications.
We have been for a company in Aus (He be there 5 weeks July/Aug) who will do an assessment and grant the AQF III so he can apply for Pathway E visa.
Been in touch in Trade train and *************, both of who I found through here, but unfortumately they do not assess Welders..... Does anyone know of a company in Aus who does this???? Or better still any welders out there had to do this.... Ta

      Hello Nikki

      I have two possible suggestions:

First, contact Alan Collett of Go Matilda. He is in touch with various TAFEs and similar training-providers in Oz with a view to candicates going tout to Oz to do the RPL assessments out there. Please see here:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News

Secondly, study the CRICOS lists, work out who provides the relevant training courses in Australia and contact the training providers direct. Please see here:

The Australian Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)

What is required for Welders is the award of the Australian AQFIII qualification, achieved via a workplace based assessment of one's skills, with a view to a skills assessment under TRA Pathway E, I believe. A minimum of four years of recent, relevant work-experience is required in addition to the AQFIII qualification when the work-experience has been obtained outside Australia.

      Best wishes

      Gill
