child and family nursing in aus

Hi, I am just starting what seems to be a very complicated process. In england I am a health visitor, think equivalent in oz is child and family nurse wanting to settle in adelaide. Does anybody know what job situation is like for this speciality. Also is an agent neccesary or is it straightforward enough to diy visa? Thanks

Hello mwhite

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

If you are a registered nurse (which I imagine you must be) Australia is desperate to attract you.

Please have a look at the following links:

Department of Immigration and Citizenship

Information Booklets - Applications & Forms - Visas & Immigration

There are about 9 different possible skilled visas for Oz and nurses would often be eligible for all or any of them. Because of the potential choice, it is very much easier - often - to start by having a word with a couple of firms of Registered Migration Agents. The good firms do not charge for 10-15 minutes on the phone with you, and you are not under any oblgation to use them if you don't want to. About 50% of via applicants do not use Agents. However the initial chat is very well worthwhile because the Agent can cover a lot of ground with you in a short time, and can suggest which visas you should consider.

I would suggest taking advantage of this generosity! Both of the firms below are first rate so I would suggest phoning them both:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Visa, Tax, and Financial Planning for Australia

Registered Australian Migration Agents, UK - Ian Harrop and Associates

Best wishes

Gill
