Citizenship???

Bit confused, as when we can become citizens!
do you have to have been a permanent resident for 4 yrs as we are gonna be temp for 2 yrs then can apply for PR. So it would be 6 to 7 yrs.
Or is it 4 yrs from when we arrive and become temp residents???

Hi Leanne

Your period as TRs will count towards your four year residence but you will also need to have had PR for a minimum of 12 months before you can apply for Citizenship according to the link below:

Step 1: Am I eligible? – General eligibility

However it is very highly unikely that you would need to wait around for 6-7 years before you can apply for Citizenship, I reckon.

Thanks Gill that sounds better than having to be PR for 4 years after our temp visa has finished.
