Temp Visa While Waiting???

Hi

We are in the early stages of our 175 Visa and was wondering if it was possible to go out on a 12months work visa while the original application is on going or are you not allowed to enter the country.
I was just thinking about how many people on here are desperately waiting for the magic phone call/ e mail and if there was anything that could be done to ease the suffering!!

Hope someone can shed some light on it!!!

Hiya

If you have an employer lined up who is willing to sponsor you for a temporary sublcass 457 visa whilst you wait, it is a possibility. However do bear in mind that you would need to pay DIAC's fees for the 457 visa as well as for the main visa, you would need chest x-rays for you & hubby plus full meds for the children, and if for any reason the 175 application gets delayed, you might end up with the cost of re-doing the meds.

Additionally, the 175 visa is an offshore visa, meaning that the whole family must be outside Australia when it is granted. Anywhere which is outside Australia and has a DIAC office will do for this purpose (Bali, Singapore or Auckland are the most usual options, depending on where you are in Oz.) The whole family would have to go offshore, so even though you would only need to go for about 5 days, it might not be the best use of the money.

You might do better to treat yourselves to a rekky visit to Oz instead whilst you wait for your 175 visas? If so, you could do that on short stay tourist visas which you can obtain almost instantly on line via the DIAC website and which only cost $20 each.

Best wishes

Gill

Thanks Gill,

I knew there had to be some flaw in my plan.

Was really against spending the money on a rekkie. I always thought the money would be better saved untill we got there, but the more time goes by the more sensible the idea becomes and saving the money on a rekkie could wind up being a fools economy.
