Letter from Doc with Meds??

Hi Quick question....
Do we have to have a letter or copy of med records from Doc to explain our med history to take to actual medicals?
Cheers, Lisa

we just went to medicals with filled out forms, if doctor had any questions that needed further info he would have then got in touch with our doc. as it was, nothing needed any further info so he sent them off just with our info. x

Thanks for the answer Yvette.
I wonder if anyone HAS had to take med records?
It says in the literature from the clinic to bring letter of medical history....so I asked our agents about this and the reply was that we only need to take records or a letter if we have any medical history? What? Don't MOST people have a medical history? Or does this mean an history of med probs that could potentially cause us to be refused?
My son has had an operation on his 'hypo-plastic' hand recently, but this will not stop him from working, I'm wondering if it's this sort of med history they mean???
Cheers Lisa,xx

Hi Lisa,

We were advised by the medical centre in Cambridge to bring copies of my med record and my sons. I have only one kidney so need to show my history and that there is currently no problem with it. A few years ago my son suffered attacks when he would stop breathing and his throat and mouth swelled up so we have to take his records to show the doctor that all tests of which there were many showed nothing untowards and he is fit and well now. I think it really has to do with if you have had anything like that which could throw up questions, if in doubt you could ask the place you are having your meds they might be able to advised. My GP charged us £30 for our medical records. Anyway hope this helps.

All the best,
Nikci

Thanks for the info Nikci,
Yes I think I will contact the clinic, I was just a bit concerned that they would just say 'get the records' when really there's no reason why we need to!
Thanks again, x

Dear Lisa,

Our daughter is under consultant care for asthma so we took the most recent letter from her consultant and although it was dated November 2007 and our meds were last Thursday he didn't seem to want anything else.

Hi Lisa,

My son and I had both had renal investigations - I took copies of letters. If you have seen a specialist for anything then I would get a copy of any report to take with you. They are interested in: what the problem is/was, what investigations were done and what is the prognosis. My friends hubby had undergone extensive knee surgery - it didn't prevent him working but limited his mobility a little - he took dr.s resport to say that it didn't interfer with work etc.,

Thanks again everyone........think I've got my answer now! I phoned the clinic.....took a while but basicaly if anyone is on medication or having on-going treatment then a letter or notes from GP is needed. So only Lloyd needs to aquire a letter because he has just had an operation! There! Sorted! Thanks guys!!
Lisa,xx
