advice on visas PLEASEEEEE !!!!!!

Hi everyone really excited i found this site im hoping someone can give me some good honest advice, il start from the beginning 3 years ago me my hubby and children decided we wanted to move to oz for a better life, so me and the hubby flew out to perth for a couple of weeks my husband went to 10 job interviews in the hope of a sponsor to make it a bit easier for us to move, all of the employers were impressed with my husband but said they were not keen on sponsoring as it cost a lot of moneyand they have had there fingers burnt in the past but if we get our own residency he would have a job waiting, the problem being is my husband is a construction manager with no qualifications on paper he started of 10 years ago as a labourer and worked his way up the ladder to a manager, he is very good at his job and has some glowing references from employees but we were told by people that we had no chance of a visa without degrees and qualifications on paper, and as im a housewife and have nothing on my belt well i worked for 1 year as a foreign exchange consultant but i dont think that counts?? we sort of gave up on the idea but as the kids are getting older we are regretting our decision of giving up and now want to find out if we can do it, so please if anyone out there reads this and has had similar problems or can help in any way please please contact me my email is dst1@sky.com i would be really grateful for any advice, by the way perth is the most amazing beautiful place ive ever been to

Hi,

Just wanted to ask you, does your husband have no qualifications at all? Could he maybe do a management training course and use that to help? Do you have any relatives in Oz that way you could get sponsered through them

Hi,
Im in the construction industry as well. Engineers Australia assessed my qualifications and graded me as a Civil Engineer Technologist. If you dont have a qualification from a recognised college/university you can submit a CDR (Competency Demonstration Report) to prove you have the relevant experience. There are 3 levels of Engineer. See the link below for details:

Advice to Applicants

I hope this is of some use to you. Let me know if you need any advice.

Good luck

Hi,
I am a site/construction manager but i chose to get assessed as a Civil Engineer Technologist so i could get 60 points.
In Oz a construction manager is a very senior role (like a senior contracts manager or area manager here in the UK)
You could try and get Engineers Australia to assess your OH as an Engineer 'Associate'. This is a 40 point occupation. They ask you to complete a CDR where you demonstrate you experience on site etc.

Cant think of many other options...........

Good Luck
Steve

Hi my OH was reading the f.a.q on the website you forwarded to me we were wondering how straight forward it is or is it a bit complicated? the reason we ask as it says if we fill in any parts wrong we will be charged 250 dollars till we get it right, sorry to be a pain but i just want to make sure we are doing the right thing
regards
becky

Hiya,
The CDR reports are quite time consuming. There is a list of tasks given for each occupation. You have to demonstrate that you have had some experience in each task. I have got a copy of a CDR if you would like me to PM it to you? It is for a fully qualified Civil Engineer rather than an Associate though.
