Helped needed please!!!!

Hi Everybody,

Need abit of help and advice please......We've all been in Melbourne for 6 months now and love it, the only problem is, is that i've left my brother behind in the uk, hes my last remaining relative, and he desparately wants to move out here with us. My question is will it be possible for my brother to live out here with us, hes over 45??? he doesnt want to come out here if he cant work and support himself and i'm not sure if he'll be able to work because hes over 45 and that will affect the visa he can apply for!!!!
Can anyone recommend a visa agent out here?, we used the ASA in the UK but cant seem to be able to make contact with them.

Many Thanks

Tracey

Hi Tracey,

I would recommend you try Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Visa, Tax and Financial Planning for Australia as they are in UK and Australia (have an office in Melbourne). They have been very good for us and get loads of praise here on PIO.

Good Luck,

Tracey.

Hi Tracey

The definitions for the Remaining Relative Visa are very strict. For example, I have a half-sister in the UK and I am not eligible for Remaining Relative because of her, even though the only contact I ever have with her is through gritted teeth and only in order to keep my mother reasonably happy, since she doesn't like bickering within the family. Nonetheless, Ann's existence blocks any chance of a Remaining Relly visa for me, so you have to be VERY caredul about whether your brother has any "near relatives" in the UK and/or outside of Australia (just to be sure.)

Bear in mind that if your brither is married, his wife's family will count as his own family for this visa.

Please see here:

Remaining Relative Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 115)

Other Family Migration Booklet

Alternatively your brother may be able to get an employer-sponsored skilled visa in spite of his age.

What does your brother do, Tracey?

Best wishes

Gill
