IELTS test results

Hi can anybody clear this one up for me please.

I have just completed my IELTS test and got an overall score of 7.5.
My skills assessment form says I need an overall score of plus 7, great so far but on another page it states I need a score of 7 in each of the four sections, which is true?

I don't have 7 in each subject, (I only got 6 in one of them)
I am a bit confused, has anyone been through this, can you give me some advice please?

Hi

I understand the IELT to be you have to have an avarage of over 7 so if u score 6 in one and 9 in another etc and the overall is over 7 then you are OK. Well done.

Incedently i just passed mine too so onwards and upwards with the Visa application hoping to lodge it next week, can't wait.

yeah i got 8,8,7.5,9 which gave me an 8 overall.

i cant wait to get my ACS results then i can lodge mine.

HI Yvonne,

Must be honest I also thought you had to get min of 7 in each section - might to wise to PM Gill or Ali they might be able to clear up the confusion on this point. Sorry couldn't be more help. I hope we are both wrong and it is a case of averaging the scores out - have fingers crossed for you.

Hi im sorry but you have not passed you need a 7 in each section in order to gain the extra points for OZ check this link

Oh Gosh i am so sorry i was always under the impression u needed an avarage of 7 not 7 in each bit.

The score you need is 7 in each category. I have just received my IELTS test results to gain the extra 10 points I need for the visa application. All my marks were over 7.5. The overall score does not count as far as I know. You would normally need 6 or over just to get the 15 points that we Brits automatically get, if you are foreign that is. Hope this helps you.
