driving licences

We are hoping to be in NSW newcastle for sept oct 08 and still have paper driving licences and wondered would we need to change them before we go or would it not make any difference as and Oz one would be needed after a few months, any advice apprec

Hi,
Your paper licences are fine, in Victoria, we had to change our licences over for aussie ones within 3 months of arriving otherwise we wou;d have had to resit a driving test, not sure if its the same all over Oz. Good Luck.

Mine is a paper one and I got my NSW one with no problems (except the woman had to sellotape it together so she could photocopy it).

What do you do to get the licence in Melbourne? We are hoping to be there by March 09 and were going to get international licences. If it's easy to get an Aussie licence that would be easier.

Just find your local Vicroads office, one in every town, make an appointment, and they deal with it from there, from memory it ws about $300 for both.
