Question Teaching Skills Asessment - How long????

I sent my teaching skills assessment off 9 weeks ago. I wondered if anyone could tell me how long their assessment took to come back! The wait seems never ending! I've then got to apply to Victoria for state sponsorship before we can apply for the visa! It seems like we'll never get there!

Sorry for the moan!

Hi Amy,

I did mine through NOOSR in 2005 and as I remember it took just under three months. We also applied for state sponsorship with Victoria (but decided to use my DH's IT skills instead) - this took about 8 weeks to come through.

Good luck on the rest of your process - you'll have loads of waiting to do, so you'll need to get used to being patient!

Thanks Zoe
I know - its a long haul!

I'm quite patient really!

What line of IT does your DH do? Mine is a software programmer but because he's 45 we have to go on my visa unless we get him sponsorship.Quite glad Vic. sponsor early years teachers as I'm sure Dh will be able to get a job in Melbourne.

Thanks again

Amy

Hi Amy,

DH got his ACS assessment under the heading of IT Manager. He's in charge of Applications Development so gets to have dealings with loads of different people, but isn't as hands-on as he used to be.

Don't know how you manage with Early Years - I much prefer the older ones, even if I do get more abuse!

Any idea where you'd like to go in Victoria? We (if we go) hope to head to Melbourne, somewhere that's close to the beach but commutable to CBD.

Good luck on the waiting!

Zoë

Bayside area I think. My sister lived on the Great Ocean Road and then Geelong and loved it but We'll need to be nearer the CBD for Dave I think.

Early years is fun - never thought I'd love it like I do. I would dread teaching older ones they'd probably all be bigger than me!

When do you plan to go to Australia?

Hi Amy, I got my skills assessment back in January after 11 weeks. I would email them (sorry I cant seem to find the adress for you) They got back to me straight away but could only say the decision was in the post. Have they asked for any extra info? I was and I think that puts you back a bit. I am sure it will arrive soon. Good luck.
