What and who is a case officer????

Hi all, Just a quick and simply question for you.....as the title says, can someone tell what a case officer does????? Keeping reading things like "waiting"or "just been given" a case officer, am I right to assume that a case officer is the person who assesses your application and decides whether its a yes or no?????

Hi when you apply for the visa it's the person assigned to process the application. When you get one it means then they are processing the application, (which is why we get excited here on PIO!) and this can take sometime if there is a backlog of applications. I don't believe they make the final decision, I think it's then passed on once all the information is gathered for a decision and it's at this point you have to just wait! Case Officers..humm...im my experience so far, they are mythical creatures :) LOL!!!
