Hi Andy, not sure what my agent has entered me as carpenter or joiner. Was a joiner from 16 to 29 years and had my own business, sold it up and for the last 5 years done kitchen, window fitting and odd jobs. Little bit worried if got to do joinery test as bit rusty, can you tell me what you had to do. Feel confident in most tasks just hate having someone standing over me watching my every move.

Hi clint , hope your alright ,don't get stressed about your test, if your hands on the tools, you'll p--- it.
Take all your hand and power tools 6ft level - hand & tenon saw - TIP concentrate on your angles bevels and joints ?
If you can make a saw stool with splayed legs you'll do alright , Hope this will put you at ease a bit.
Some of the saw stools I saw made were that bad that they walk out to the skip on there own.
Were are you thinking of heading in Australia.
kind regards Andy

last time i made a saw stool was when i was an apprentice. Should be ok though made staircases, sliding box sash windows, doors, etc. Only thing not had a lot of experiance in cut and pitch roofing normally muddle through most things ok, just dont like being under exam type situations. If all goes well hoping to go to Perth early 2009, or sooner.

we did not after do roof but capenters had to, but they might swap proceses around.
if you have a bit of time ,get some 3 bi 2 and make a 30/pitch of a roof and practice the cuts,
you'll be a lot more confident on the day, were are you taking the test or don't you know yet.
