Contributory Parents - Number announced for 1 July 2007-30 June 2008

There has been an update on the number of Contributory Parent visa allocations for the year 2007/2008.

On 3 April 2008 Chris Evans Minister for Immigration & Citizenship determined the numbers were as follows:

Contributory Aged Parent (Residence - class DG) - 300
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary - class UU) - 29
Contributory Parent (Migrant- class CA) - 2,521
Contributory Parent (Temporary- class UT) - 650

This totals 3,500 which unfortunately looks like no increase to the current years allocation.

Probably pretty damn good Id say!

My parents applied for CPV Feb 07, Case officer, meds PCC Nov 07, AOS completed Dec 07. They were just about to be asked for the last VAC payment and the freeze happened! There are about 1000 visas reserved from the 2008-09 bunch for these people. You should be one of them if all you have to do is pay the 2nd payment!
Good Luck

The Source Information

Hi All

Here is the relevant DIAC media release:

Media Release: Capping of Contributory Parent category visas

All that it does is to confirm the numbers of the visas granted within each category by the time the Minister formally applied the Caps for the year, which he has done this morning, it seems.

In other words, he has confirmed that he is not going to grant any more Parent and Contributory Parent visas between now and 30th June 2008. We didn't expect him to grant any extra visas before then anyway apart from an initial flurry of optimism back at the beginning of January.

What the Minister has NOT, repeat not yet done is to announce the quotas which will be available for grant during the forthcoming (2008/90 Program Year which begins on 1st July 2008.

Best wishes

Gill
