student visa and husband working

HI all,
I have just been informed that it doesn't look as if we can go the skills route. O/H job does come under the list as he is technically (?spell check please) a supply and distribution manager, according to the work that he actually does, BUT, the company he works for is quite small, and so he does not have managers below him, which, I am lead to believe is what the skills assessment requires. Sooooo It has been suggested that we look into the student visa route. But, it would have to be me that applies, as I am younger and as I only work part time here, my wage would not be missed..

Sorry to go on......but I guess the question is: Is it ok for hubby and kids to come on my student visa (assuming I get one) and would hubby be able to work at whatever?

Any help would be well appreciated!

Emma

Hi

All the family can be included in your student visa, anyone over the age of 5 must be enrolled into School and school fees are payable.

You and your husband will only receive 20 hours work rights per week each, so he will be resticted on the amount of hours he can work. But he can work as anything he chooses. You can work full time when your college is closed for breaks.

Have you decided what you might wish to study?

there is a list of courses, let me know if you need any further information.

I thought that hubby would be able to work the usual.... Bit of a problem having reduced wages, and course fees to pay, will have to have a good think about it.
I was considering hairdressing or similar. Would we be able to apply for a Perm visa after 2 years of study?

Hey Emma

We are going down the student route and we are using Laura above ..shes fab has had to put up with loads of q's from OH ....student visa very expensive option as you have to pay for school fees, health insurance, the course itself....email Laura as you might get some negative reponses like I have done re the student visa

Pm me if you have any qq's and I can fill you in to where we are ;-)

Good Luck

Hello Laura

We do not encourage those promoting firms of Migration Agents to post on Poms in Oz unless the Registered Migration Agent does the posting him or herself, to minimise the risk that an unqualified assistant in the firm might give inaccurate advice. That would be a very poor advertisement for the firm in question anyway, plus it could cause one of our members to suffer material loss.

If Mr Perich would like to contribute to Poms in Oz himself (or if you are a Registered Migration Agent in your own right) we have no problem with that provided that:
  • You make it clear from your posts that you are a Registered Migration Agent, by setting your signature lines up in such a way that they give your MARN number below your sign-off name with your website address underneath that;
  • You also make it clear that you are posting in your capacity as a Registered Migration Agent and not as a private individual; and
  • We ask that you add a link to Poms in Oz on your firm's own website.
The forum is not a vehicle for free advertising, however. Therefore pelase be good enough to contact Tim (site admin) either via a Private Message to Tim - user name Tim - or via e-mailing him on contact@pomsin oz.com

I understand from your previous posts that you used This Is Australia for your own migration to Oz. Please see Post #7 on this thread:

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migrat...28-agents.html

However, please do not try to advertise the firm as blatantly as you have on this thread today. Please remain within the guidelines stated above.

I would suggest that you consult Mr Perich about whether he is content for you to offer 'advice' on this website in the name of his firm because if you do so and your advice is inaccurate, but given in the name of your firm, Mr Perich could be liable for it. Please also note that any migration advice or assistance offered in Australia in a professional or quasi professional capacity may ONLY be provided by a Registered Migration Agent, as Mr Perich will be able to confrm to you if you ask him.

In the meanwhile, I have edited your post above to bring it within the Poms in Oz Guidelines.

Best wishes

Gill

Hey Emma

I think Laura's be naughty

I would have recommended her anyway the company has been highly recommended on here as well as a few others.

I can only tell you from my own experiences and so far so good , very sensible as to when we should sell etc as we hope to be in Vic by Jan 09 so its a bit of a rush. But she its not misleading...

After reading some leads people have replied to us we had to go back to her a few times and shes always come back with advice and the end of the day its your descison..

Plus they are resonable for fees and you dont have to pay until you apply for your visa

She has gone through this processon has a different visa shes been in Oz for 2 years and loving it

Good Luck

Hi Debz
Have looked into the student visa and learning that Hubby can only work 20 hrs too, is a bit of a bummer. Don't think we would be able to afford to pay for everything with the savings we will have. We are thinking of me studying here for a skill on the list, and then applying via the skilled route. It will take a couple of extra years, but as I am only in my early 30s, I should be ok for a while. The dream is still alive, just going a little slower than planned.... Of course if Hubby was to get a fab job offer, with sponsorship and visa included - all the better!!!

Hi Emma,

I just wanted to say that we have also used Laura & Matthew and have now been over here almost a year on our student visa.

Laura is worth her weight in gold (well more actually cos she is only tiny!) and has gone way beyond 'her call of duty' as a representative for that migration company. I think that it says a lot for a representative to still be in regular contact with you 1 year after arriving in Oz on your Student Visa, giving us help and advice, planning your PR Visa strategy etc.

I am sorry that you may not be in Oz as quickly as you first hoped, but you will get here. It is soooooooooooo worth the wait!

There have been a few posts recently about student visa's and it is something that you need to go into with your eyes wide open. It is very expensive, and there are no guarantees at the end of it, but there are also positives to the student visa (only takes weeks to obtain from start to finnish/recognised Australian Qualification at the end of it etc).

Best of luck to you, whichever route you decide to take.

Heather

Hey Heather

Can't wait to meet Laura , we are trying to arrange to meet up next year:-)

I am glad I have finally seen someone who is actual living how we will be...

Good Luck with the PR

Is it ok if I Pm you as we go through the process?? When asking qq's regarding this option I have had some rude and offensive posts I have a few contacts who are going to do this route but never seen anyone is trying the life..

Are you using the bridging visa until you get PR??
