457 Visa Times

Hello

Has anybody had problems with the length of time a 457 sponsored visa is taking at the moment. We must be into 8 months now and have only just got a case no and officer!

Gov websites state 6-8 months max time for all 3 stages. We are hoping that it will be our turn to apply soon (stage 3) but are not holding our breath

Carl

457 visa times

Carl

I have been told by my company in Oz that once they have set up details, a 457 should only take about four weeks!!
I assume your not talking about a 475 which would be different again.

Ta very much,

Well hopefully that will be the case, I have heard that when you get your case no then things should start moving. I think the trouble is that with stages 1&2 its the company doing all the work and we have just got to sit and wait for them.

Funny, finding a job seems to be the easy part at the moment!!!

Is it definitely a 457 visa you have applied for as i have given my migration agents which were appointed by the company all the info they needed within two days, they will lodge my visa app and it will not take 8 mths but 8 weeks 12 at the most - it seems a very slow process the 457 is meant to be able to asist companies to get people over there asap.

We applied for 457 in Nov and have only just received case officer. I have been told it depends what area you apply to. We are going to brisbane and they are really delayed with all applications but my friend going to perth and was told 12 weeks max.

was it an on line application or paper os this seems to have some bearing on things but the wait you have described has taken me aback I thought it was a more simple and quick process I had better get ready for a wait then

It is the 457, but the company sponsoring me did not hold stage 1 and 2, so they have had to apply from the start. As they have not had nomination accepted yet (Stage 2) I can't apply for my visa (stage 3) yet. I think the 8-12 week times you are talking about are for stage 3 applications??? not sure??

I am sponsered by Queensland health as a nurse so they obviously had stage 1 and 2 but Im still waiting for visa. I only got a case officer a couple of days ago as I have kept emailing them. I hope other people on this thread are luckier than me cos it feels like forever. Im supposed to be fast tracked as Im a nurse so god knows how long you have to wait normally
