      Talking Occupational Trainee Help

      Hi Guys,

I'm a new girl on the block wanting some friendly advice please. At the moment my husband and I are living in France - but wanting to move to Perth.
As my OH is 46 we can't go on his skills (plumber) so our only option as far as I can see is to go on my skills (not a lot) at the moment I am studying long distance in accounting (did this in England) can somebody tell me if this is the best visa to go through 422 workplace visa?
By the way - weather better than in England but sooooo cold in France.

      Thanks in advance

      Hello EMO

      Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Has Hubby got all his formal plumbing qualifications?

General Plumber is on the MODL. Please see the following links:

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

You would need to ask a Registered Migration Agent about whether or not Hubby would count as being UK resident for doing the test via VETASSESS.

He may be able to get an employer to sponsor him for a visa. It would not necessarily be fatala if he does not have formal qualifications so that he can get as positive skills assessment, but it would be much better to have a positive skills assessment.

The stuff about employer sponsored visas is here:

Employer Sponsored Workers - Workers - Visas & Immigration

Employer Sponsored Migration Booklet - Australian Immigration

Sponsoring a Temporary Overseas Employee to Australia

Employer sponsorship would be the best & lest expensive idea for you. Student vsas are VERY expensive and they do NOT provide a guaranteed route to Permanent Residence in Oz.

Plenty of plumbers have found sponsors, so investigate this idea first, I sugegst.

      Best wishes

      Gill
