Hi

My partner and i are seriously considering applying for social worker positions currently advertised in England. Are there any Social Workers from England who have taken the oplunge and moved to Australia who could offer some advice

Thanks

SAndra

Remember reading that it is mostly volunteer work in that line of work in Oz, I dont think there are many actual paid jobs in the field in Oz.
Someone will know 100%.

There are plenty of social worker jobs - especially in Child Protection where we churn through workers at an amazing rate of burn out!!!!

We had an intake of UK SWs a few years ago here but I am not sure what happened with their conditions of employment but most of them went back home according to the grapevine and a few pulled out of their contracts, paid up the penalties and went elsewhere. I would look very carefully at the package you are offered - sorry I dont know what went wrong in particular for this group.
