Certified Documents

Hi,
I was reading some other threads on getting documents certified, and most people recommend a solicitor or lawyer to certify.
I was just looking on the DIMA website, and is sid that

"The department also accepts documents certified by a registered migration agent"

Has anyone used their agent to do this rather than a solicitor or such?

Hi Patrice,

My experience with the agent was that we used our own solicitor, our agent couldn't certify anything. However she did say that they could send stuff to their solicitor. I don't know if this differes from Agen to agent? But our solicitor didn't charge for everything but the going rate is only £5.00. I hope thid helps. But give a few agents a call, they will give you some time free! We used Ist Contact Migration and they were fab.

Good Luck

April

Hi
i was told on another forum that if you have them scanned in colour from the original document you do not need them certified by solicitor etc

kind regards

Just recently had to certify documents.I phoned my local magistrates court and told them i wanted to make a stat dec i was charged £25 for all our documents which i thought was reasonable considering we had about 50 items which needed certifying. Althought the magistrate wasn't impressed cos he had to delay the court sessions by 30 mins whilst he finished signing everything.

Hiya

The time scale to enter oz is one year from either the date of your Meds or your police check whichever was first. As both of these need to be valid when you enter Oz.

We were lucky as we have a Spouse visa which only took 8 weeks! We are not going until Sep due to timings with School and College, the children wanted to finish off the school year in UK, and because we are taking them half way around the world we thought that it was only fair to let them do this.

If you need any advice please feel free to PM me.

April

Initially I tried to get our documents certified at the magistrates court on advice from previous postings. They didn't have a clue what I was talking about and claimed they had never been involved in this before!!

I then tried our agent, but he said that he couldn't certify them. We then called on an old acquaintance who we hadn't spoken to in years (who just also happened to be a solicitor!). I did all the copying and left both copies of all the documents with him. It only cost us the price of a good bottle of wine.

Debs x
