Good luck with your Carpentry practical guys, hope it goes well. We are still putting paper file together so hubby will hopefully do practical soon.
Would love to know how you get on and what it involves etc.
Got our fingers crossed for you

Best of luck to you all.
I would be really grateful to know what the practical involves too. I have spent recent years specialising in kitchen fitting and and my skills are a bit rusty, so really need to get some practice in.
Would love to hear of your experiences.

We're also just putting all of our paperwork together. Would love to hear feedback from anyone who is sitting the practical carpentry test as there doesn't seem to be a lot of info about at the moment with it being a new system, etc. I did manage to get through to a guy at Vet Assess who was very helpful in answering my questions, but unfortunately he kept referring to roofing which I haven't done a great deal of for 15 years!!!! My experience mainly lies in formwork/shuttering. Good luck to all of you about to take the test.

Any pointers people?????? My hubbys got experience (but no confidence when it comes to paperwork) & there seems to be a few questions regarding roofing - did anyone leave anything blank on their forms????

Hi Jade
We passed our paper assessment and Eammon took his practical on 21 July which (thankfully) he passed.
For the paper assessement we included references from past and present employers/customers, tax returns, invoices, receipts. We also put together a couple of stat decs, the first one to outline and demonstrate Eammon's training and experience in the job as he doesn't have any formal qualification and the second one to evidence his self employment. We just got together as much information as possible. It took a while, but towards the end all came together quite quickly.
Good luck with it. Let us know how you get on

Stuart
My partner did his Carpentry practical in Accrington 9th April.
He had to build a few things (you will be given list of what to build before the date) in front of an examiner. They also asked him questions along the way and ticked some boxes after he gave the answers.
He does more site management now but used to do kitchen and bathroom refurbs so he was nervous about it but managed to pass. I think the roofing stuff was the hardest for him but he got through it.
As mentioned by someone else it was a 7.30am registration and finish around 5pm. He had to drive back to Surrey after that!
Good luck
