Medical question (again!)

Hi - wonder if someone could help please. Does anyone know where I can find out what the exact requirements are for getting through your medical. I know that somewhere it states that there is a limit as to how much you may cost the government ($30,000?) - I have search the DIAC website but can't find anything. OH has colitis so will def be referred but I want to know where we stand before going for meds which is now imminent.

Many thanks and I will try to stop posting questions about medicals!!

Hi there
l had medical concerns as well - it is so hard to find out & there are conflicting stories about how much the ceiling is on cost to oz before you really run into trouble - just take as much info as poss with you - my GP gave me copies of all the specialists reports in my notes and ask the panel doctor what he thinks when you go - l just asked if l was a box A or B & he said he thought he could go with the A if my GP would just write a report giving a more in depth story of my medical history. We were paper based 136 so the only way to find out if we had actually passed was to ring the high commission and get them to check the status of our meds, which they said were loaded onto the system and all OK (only 10 days after they were rec in Sydney)

Best of luck

Mel

Hi Melissa

Many thanks it may be we will just have to wait and see then. Did you find the panel doctor pleasant enough and did you go to the guy in Upminster?

Thanks

Hello

just noticed you are local ! No, we went up to No1 Health in Harley Street, someone recommended them to us as being good and the xrays were a lot cheaper than the Brentwood place the Doctor in Upminster sends you to. We had a funky little japanese doctor who was brilliant and we made a day of it with us all being off school/work for the day, had lunch, took kids to London Dungeon & National Gallery, helped take our minds off everything and de-stressed us! Have you tried a search on British expats for your medical condition - l found at lot more info on there regarding my problems which did help put my mind at rest a bit. Now l can't believe that l spent the best part of a year petrified of failing the medical.

Are you coming to the Essex meet on Sun?

Mel

Hiya - yeah we are in Hornchurch so not far from you! Good idea about the day out up town - maybe we'll do that too! I am really worried about the meds so will have a look on the other site too, thanks.

Can't make the meet on Sunday our friend's having a birthday party for their little girl which clashes unfortunately, so hope to go to the next one. Hope you enjoy if you go.

All the best

Emily
