Recognition for work experience!!

My hubbie has 14 yrs print experience and worked up through the ranks to production manager. No qualifications to his name! Runs the company second only to the owner! Read a post saying TRA removed work experience option in sept 2007 - so how does he get recognition for all this experience? Read over TRA guidance can't see a way forward other than to get print quals or get a degree (HA hA) to go as a manager.
E-mailed them for advice and got standard email reply - no help!

Does anyone know if you get an employer to sponsor you based on your experience whether this still all matters? Thanx Cath

TRA have said they are bringing back a revised version of pathway d soon. Recent news expects this to be by 1st July. Pathway D was the route for experienced unqualified workers so if you can hold on a few more weeks you may be ok.

Hi Cath

In prinviple, I'm with nickynush on this one.

I'm sceptical about any new arrangements actually going live by 1st July 2008 but I think there will definitely be a replacement for Pathway D at some stage, though may be not till the beginning of 2009.

How old is your OH? As long as you can afford to wait till early 2009, that may be your best option.

If you manage to find a sponsor, the need for formal qualifications can be dispensed with provided that you can come within the rules for exemption from them. Please see here:

Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 121/856)

Best wishes

Gill

Hi

Why do you think replacement won't be in by 1st July - do you know something we don't?

I had an email from TRA recently that said that things were in final stages and due to enter a "clearance phase" and that a replacement was weeks away.

Nicky

Hi

looking at /www.immi.gov.au/asri/ the next link takes you to information about production manager in manufactoring Production Manager (Manufacturing) 1222-11 - Australian Skills Recognition Information
Production Manager (Manufacturing) 1222-11 guide available
seems you would get your skills assessed with vetassess@vetassess.com.au maybe check with them if they have a Recognition of Prior learning Assessment (RPL) or how you could apply with no degree. Maybe they would give advice also.
Good luck
Sarah

Hi as always thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply . We do have time on our hands as planning for 2010 but coming for a visit in Sept so who knows may aim for earlier date! It's frustrating as I know he is AMAZING at what he does - he says he is not aware of any trade quals for his field. Anyway I would imagine TRA will have to come up with something for skillied experienced workers - watch this space it seems! Cath
