Birth Certificates

Hi All

We have been advised that we need a full length copy of our birth certificates (including parents names) for our Visa (175) however we have only got the shorter versions that do not include parent names..

If we obtain copies of these from the records office are they just a copy of the original or will they include parents names ??

Am trying to contact the records office but having little success !!

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

I assume that you can buy a full copy at the registery office. I know you can't get then on the phone but is it possible to go in and see them? They will give you them there & then.

Hi Mark.

You can apply at the main office General Register Office (GRO) - Official information on births, marriages and deaths online and they provide several speeds of postage service for quickness - but the cheapest way to go is direct to where your births are registered - the local number should be in the phoen directory
good luck

I ordered my full birth certificate online, using the 7 days method - they provide full authenticated certificate with parents names; I had an extra copy done as well in case I needed to to re-apply. You must send this original copy - btw have you done police checks yet ? those take about 40 days I'd get these done asap

Just pop along to your local registry office. They will be able to give you the necessary form and address of where you need to send it. . If you were born locally, they will do it there and then. Costs £7.00 each

We did this and send the forms off and got back the certificate in 3 days.

Don't get conned by these companies that offer the service on the net - they charge about £25.

hi guys.
yes we needed long birth certificates too,we didnt do it on line.just looked through the yellow pages for our local registry office.they were great,we told the superintendant where we were born and they gave us the phone numbers of the offices where we were born, felt very wierd lol.Anyway we told them all the details over the phone, and paid for the certificates over the phone, and wheyhey a couple of weeks later, they arrived it only cost us £9 each and £4 handling and delivery fee. hope you find it as easy as we did.good luck .

ring up or can use the online general regsiter office site. they take about 4 days to come through.

Police checks you don't need until you get a CO so don't rush them, you have to validate visa within 12 months of them being done as well so they are time dependant.

Hi there,

Yes, all I did was phone the registry office and mine was sent by return and only paid £7.50. if you live near (which I don't) you can go in and fill out a form, if it is b4 12 midday you can get your certificate the same afternoon.

Hope this helps

April
