Hi there, we live in Mango Hill which is about 10 mins drive to Redcliffe. Redcliffe and surrounds is grreat, the facilities on the beaches are superb they have gar bbq that the council look after that are free to use, great playparks for the kids etc.
We really liked the look of Sandgate and Shorncliffe when we arrived in Jan, but the prices there are more expensive than Mango Hill and there's stiff competition to live there as its so close to the sea. After the process of emigrating we honestly couldnt face a bidding war if we saw something we liked, or restoring it. there are lots of beaut houses there, but often they are right next to a decrepit, empty house with scrap cars in the garden etc. (more redcliffe end than Shorncliffe). Owners are holding tight onto their properties in the hope that a developer will buy it up, I believe. so when the grandparents die, they get left the house and then it sits and rots. that's the only other aspect of that area we weren't too keen on. otherwise, it's great and you may not be next to an old pile.
So in summary, you get a bit more for yr money inland a bit, but the Redcliffe area is lovely!
hope that helps, Susie.
