Can my partner come on my visa?

Hi there, new to all this and just making tentative enquiries first before taking the plunge so to speak.....
I've got a phone interview in a few days with a company in Melbourne, if I was offered the job and they sponsored my application (I imagine initially it would be a temporary resident visa) would my partner automatically be able to come as well? We have 2 kids, been together 4 years or so. She doesn't have any qualifications as such, possibly a NVQ in health care (she's not sure).
Do we have to do seperate applications, or can she come on my visa is what I'm basically trying to ask in a mumbly kind of way?
Thanks in advance........

Hello fellow scot, looking to flee the grey miserable Scottish weather too eh?

I looked here :Temporary Business (Long Stay) - Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457)
That seemed to explain pretty much what I was looking for, take a look and see what you reckon.
Whereabouts are you headed? We're looking at Melbourne, got a phone interview on Monday coming. All happening a bit fast for us though, we weren't planning on going anywhere until 2010 but see how it goes Monday.

Cheers the noo

hello again, sorry we havent been in touch just got a bit peed off with the whole thing it is driving me mad. thanks for the info you gave . what stage of the application are you at then now. we just posted our tra application and are waiting reply, but would like to get the visa application started then if we get a postive answer we can just get the visa posted as soon as possible. our intentions were to go 2010 also but the more you look into it the faster you want to be there.
only probs i have had with the visa so far is the points thing added points up and have 115 without awarding anything for being english spoken simply because i dont know if we need to get an english test or if we automatically get awarded need to send out another post. thanks again and keep in touch
