Hi
OH is plasterer (solid) and we just submitted our TRA via agent. OH sub-contracts so we got references from the 4 companies he has worked for over the last 5 years, then a reference from the guy he worked+trained with for 3 years previous to that. Also did stat dec, stating his duties, tools etc. Letter from accountant with dates she has acted for him. Typed on headed paper where possible always best.
As much info as you can possibly get together seems to be the rule of them here. PM me if we can be of any futher assistance.

Hi Paul

Unless there is a form that can only be completed by hand, type as much as you can. If you do have to write out anything by hand, use a black biro so that it will scan easily.

I've heard it said that it is worth preparing the reference letters yourself so that the person concerned only has to sign them. This link may help:

templates : British Expat Discussion Forum

The MODL requirement is for a "solid plasterer" so whatever that is, make sure it comes across that you are one!

There seem to be 2 ASCO codes for Solid Plasterers. I don't know which one would be better for you. Please see below:

Solid Plasterer 4415-11 - Australian Skills Recognition Information

Solid Plasterers - Supervisor 4415-01 - Australian Skills Recognition Information

It might be easier to go for the first one, I suspect.

The TRA website gives some useful tips and apparently there is a form which I haven't looked at yet. Please see below:

workplace.gov.au - FAQ - for people migrating to Australia

Also, run search both on Poms in Oz and on British Expats (British Expatriate Community : British Expat Community) Use the Advanced Search facility with both. I haven't got very far with either but I'll try different combinations of keyword later. I suggest you do the same because you might have better luck than me.

Speak later.

Cheers

Gill
